The Prairiland Patriots will head out on the road to take on the Chisum Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Prairiland is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
Last Tuesday, things could have been worse for Prairiland, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 43-29 loss to the Buffaloes. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Prairiland in their matchups with the Buffaloes: they've now lost six in a row.
Meanwhile, Chisum struggled with offensive rebounds on Tuesday (the Bulldogs had eight more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Chisum was outmatched by the Bulldogs on the road and fell 55-28. While losing is never fun, Chisum can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 708th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 220th).
Chisum's defeat came about despite a quality game from Emma Garner, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and five blocks. Garner is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last 24 games she's played.
Prairiland's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 13-17. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.6 points per game. As for Chisum, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-17 record this season.
Prairiland might still be hurting after the 53-31 loss they got from the Mustangs in their previous meeting back in January. Can Prairiland avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
