After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Bryan, the Hutto Hippos were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They took down Weiss 57-38. Given Hutto's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 476th, while Weiss is ranked 1041st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the loss, Weiss still got an impressive performance from Serese Williams, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. Sa'Niyah Fowler was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with two steals.
Even though they lost, Weiss smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. This was only their 15th loss (out of 16 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
Hutto has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 15-19 record this season. As for Weiss, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-26.
Hutto will square off against Duncanville at TBD on Monday. Duncanville knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six games -- so hopefully Hutto likes a good challenge. Weiss does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
