Indian Creek extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping their season record down to 6-9 in the process. They came up short against the Harrison Central Huskies, falling 12-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Huskies this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 on Thursday.
Emma Vok was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season.
As for Harrison Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games.
On Harrison Central's side, Mikayla Pelegreen made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Pelegreen has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Harrison Central got a great performance from Emma Skinner as she pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Skinner has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Olivia Tonkovich was incredible, going 4-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Kelsey Powers was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Indian Creek will head out to face off against Oak Glen at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Golden Bears' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Redskins' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Harrison Central, they will venture away from home to take on Cambridge at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bobcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.71 runs per game on average), something the Huskies will no doubt try to take advantage of.
