On Friday, the Lafayette Christian Academy Knights faced the St. Thomas More Cougars in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Lafayette Christian Academy took a 44-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Thomas More. It was the first time this season that Lafayette Christian Academy let down their fans at home.
When it comes to explaining why Lafayette Christian Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jujuan Johnson. Despite the final result, he threw for 395 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 13.6 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 143 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Trae Grogan, who picked up 154 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Thomas More to victory, but perhaps none more so than John luke St.pierre, who rushed for 159 yards and a touchdown. Gabe Mocek was another key contributor, rushing for 107 yards and two touchdowns.
Lafayette Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 8-2. As for St. Thomas More, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lafayette Christian Academy will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on Peabody at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Peabody will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Louisiana Rankings (they are ranked 105th, while Lafayette Christian Academy is ranked fourth). St. Thomas More will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Istrouma at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th.
