The Skyview Hawks will head out on the road to challenge the Vallivue Falcons at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Skyview has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with four straight losses, while Vallivue will come in with five straight victories.
On Tuesday, Skyview didn't have quite enough to beat Middleton and fell 4-3. That's two games in a row now that the Hawks have lost by just one run.
Skyview saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kenna Bettencourt, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Vallivue made easy work of Emmett on Tuesday and carried off a 13-3 win. Considering the Falcons have won eight games by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Maris Farner was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed six innings while giving up three earned runs off ten hits. Farner was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ali Knowles, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Abbie Egglston, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Vallivue always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Emmett only posted an OBP of .387.
Vallivue's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Skyview, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-11.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Skyview has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Vallivue struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
