New Milford has been on the road for two straight, but on Thursday they'll finally head home. They will take on the New Fairfield Rebels at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. New Fairfield took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on New Milford, who comes in off a win.
Even though New Milford has not done well against Notre Dame Catholic recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. New Milford snuck past Notre Dame Catholic with a 41-37 win. Given New Milford's advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Notre Dame Catholic is ranked 91st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, New Fairfield was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Monday as they fell 31-27 to Newtown. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points New Fairfield has scored all season.
New Milford has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. As for New Fairfield, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 11-7.
New Milford was able to grind out a solid win over New Fairfield when the teams last played back in January of 2023, winning 42-29. Will New Milford repeat their success, or does New Fairfield have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
