On Friday, the Green Canyon Wolves faced the Bear River Bears in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Green Canyon fell just short of the Bears by a score of 40-38. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Green Canyon has scored all season.
Green Canyon lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jared Anderson, who scored 11 points along with three steals. Jackson Penigar was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds.
Green Canyon has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-4 record this season. As for Bear River, their win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Green Canyon will take on the Riverhawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Utah (Ridgeline is ranked 20th, while the Wolves are ranked 21st). As for Bear River, they will head out on the road to challenge the Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
