Northfield is 1-6 against Denver East since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Northfield Nighthawks will head out on the road to square off against the Denver East Angels at 7:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
A well-balanced attack led Northfield over Denver North in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Northfield blew Denver North out of the water with a 83-41 final score. Given Northfield's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while Denver North is ranked 104th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Madison Bethel, who scored 20 points along with six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Aliyah Herron, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine steals.
Meanwhile, Denver East waltzed into their game on Saturday with seven straight wins but they left with eight. Everything went their way against George Washington as Denver East made off with a 61-38 win.
Mairead Hearty was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 14 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jennesse Byrd, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Tuesday's matchup will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Bethel and Byrd. Bethel has been dynamite this season: she has averaged 12 points and 3.9 steals. For her part, Byrd has averaged 13.3 points, 4 steals, and 4.1 assists.
Northfield skirted past Denver East 2-0 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023.
