Troy Christian is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight game dating back to last season on Thursday. They lost 13-3 to Milton-Union. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by exactly ten runs.
Troy Christian saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaylee Eschete, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Alaina Rogers was another, scoring two runs while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.
While Riverside didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They never let Bethel get on the board and left with a 14-0 victory on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won three contests by 14 runs or more so far this season.
Keira Manahan was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Aubree Huston was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Jayden Hoffer also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Riverside kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in three consecutive games.
Riverside's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Troy Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.
Troy Christian might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from Riverside when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
