The Pyramid Lake Lakers won the last time they faced the Excel Christian Warriors, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Pyramid Lake put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 56-31 win. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-12.
Pyramid Lake's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cash Hall, who scored 17 points along with six assists and three steals. Another player making a difference was Takoda Rivers, who scored 19 points along with six steals and five rebounds.
Excel Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jonah Calderas, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Mark Doerfler, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Pyramid Lake is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-10 record this season. As for Excel Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-9.
Pyramid Lake will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Serpents at 7:30 p.m. Mineral County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten games -- so hopefully the Lakers like a good challenge. As for Excel Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against the Wolves at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Coleville is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
