After two games on the road, Kings Mountain is heading back home. They will take on the Huss Huskies at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Kings Mountain has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 672 points over their last nine matchups.
Even though Ashbrook scored an imposing 71 points on Tuesday, Kings Mountain still came out on top. Kings Mountain pulled ahead with a 72-71 photo finish over the Greenwave.
Kings Mountain's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Caleb Nixon, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Nixon has scored all season. Bradley Floyd was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, even though Crest scored an imposing 60 points on Tuesday, Huss still came out on top. Huss narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Chargers 62-60. The win was all the more spectacular given Huss' disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 190th, while the Chargers are ranked 47th).
The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Zaiyir 'Zii' Phillips and Aj Adams. Phillips had a great game and scored 13 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Meanwhile, Adams was balling out in the loss, scoring 16 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds.
Kings Mountain has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Huss, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-10.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as both teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Kings Mountain hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 71.6 points per game. However, it's not like Huss struggles in that department as they've been averaging 60.4 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Kings Mountain strolled past the Huskies in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 66-52. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Huss' Trimell Dunlap, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Kings Mountain still be able to contain Dunlap? There's only one way to find out.
