The Overfelt Royals will head out to face off against the Silver Creek Raiders at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (Overfelt 14.1, Silver Creek 14.1) so any points scored will be well earned.
Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Overfelt turned things around against Oak Grove on Friday. They never let the Eagles get on the board and left with a 20-0 win. The Royals not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since October 18, 2024 (when they won 54-7).
The critical scores for Overfelt came from Akosua Schoby, Daniel Perez, and Junior Medina.
Overfelt's run defense was locked in: Oak Grove could only muster 1.3 yards per carry. The team can thank Christopher Hanley for the heroic effort on defense: he. Overfelt didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 7.1.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Silver Creek, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They claimed a resounding 42-7 victory over Del Mar. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by 22 points or more this season.
Overfelt better keep an eye on Alijah Guzman. He was instrumental in Silver Creek's win, rushing for 133 yards and one score on only 12 carries. Guzman has become a key player for the Raiders: the team is undefeated when he posts at least 80 rushing yards, but 1-3 otherwise.
Silver Creek now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Overfelt, their win bumped their record up to 3-4.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Overfelt has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 148 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Silver Creek struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 241.3 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Overfelt was able to grind out a solid victory over Silver Creek in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, winning 32-22. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Raiders' Austin Price, who picked up 152 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Royals to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
