North Eugene is 2-8 against Ashland since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Highlanders will host the Grizzlies at 5:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Having struggled with eight losses in a row, North Eugene turned things around against North Salem on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 14-4 victory. The Highlanders' offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last eight games.

Duncan Roudabush and Mason Baer made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Roudabush pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Baer tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. At bat, Roudabush went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one run, while Baer went 1-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Michael Buschelman was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Singleton, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Ashland not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 18th (when they won 6-0). They blew past Springfield 9-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Grizzlies.
Like North Eugene, Ashland also got a great game from a two-way player: Logan Trivette. He struck out 13 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Trivette was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Trivette wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Malakai Chandler, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Anthony Albano was another, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.
North Eugene's win bumped their record up to 4-10. As for Ashland, their victory bumped their record up to 5-6.
North Eugene suffered a grim 12-3 defeat to Ashland when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Highlanders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
