Basketball Recap: Eldorado Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Decim Mathati and Kj Washington

If Eldorado was riding high fresh off their 52-31 takedown of Pinecrest Academy Cadence last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Firehawks fell 55-48 to the Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon Pirate on Monday. The loss put an end to the Firehawks' undefeated start to the season.

Eldorado's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kj Washington, who shot 56% from the field en route to 19 points in addition to seven steals and five boards, and Decim Mathati, who almost dropped a double-double with nine rebounds and 13 blocks. The contest was Washington's third in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Damoni Hayes, who posted five points and 17 rebounds.

Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Andrew Hutchings out in front who put up ten points. Another player making a difference was Neariah Tun, who had eight points.

Having lost for the first time this season, Eldorado fell to 2-1. As for Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon, their win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0.
