The Terre Haute North Vigo Patriots will square off against the Martinsville Artesians at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Terre Haute North Vigo has five straight wins, Martinsville has 20 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Terre Haute North Vigo barely beat South Vermillion the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Patriots' pitchers stepped up to hand the Wildcats a 10-0 shutout on Monday. Considering the Patriots have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Nate Millington made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Brayden Dean and Parker Higham did most of the damage at the plate: Dean went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI, while Higham went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI Higham has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Briar Goda, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Terre Haute North Vigo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Vermillion only posted an OBP of .211.
Meanwhile, Martinsville came up short against Perry Meridian on Wednesday and fell 6-1.
Martinsville saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaxton Proctor, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Martinsville's loss dropped their record down to 0-19. As for Terre Haute North Vigo, their victory bumped their record up to 15-8.
Terre Haute North Vigo beat Martinsville 4-1 in their previous meeting back in May of 2016. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
