The Academy for Academic Excellence Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Big Bear, falling 64-31. Academy for Academic Excellence lost against Big Bear in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 47-40 score last time.
It was another big night for Aiden Brewer, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds for Big Bear. The contest was Brewer's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Levi Rufner, who scored 14 points.
Academy for Academic Excellence has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-11 record this season. As for Big Bear, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Academy for Academic Excellence won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Silver Valley at 5:30 p.m. on January 10th. Silver Valley knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 13 contests -- so hopefully Academy for Academic Excellence likes a good challenge. As for Big Bear, they will head out on the road to face off against University Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. University Prep is out to stop a six-game streak of losses at home.
