The Kaiser Cats will face off against the Jurupa Hills Spartans at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
While Kaiser's win against Carter wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cats skirted past the Lions 8-6. The Cats haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Isabella Retana was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Rios, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Jurupa Hills, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They won by a run and slipped past Carter 8-7. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Spartans as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Kaylin Olguin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Isabela Torres, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Sophie Gutierrez, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.
Jurupa Hills kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 7-3 when they post 11 or more hits.
Jurupa Hills pushed their record up to 7-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Kaiser, their victory bumped their record up to 5-11.
Kaiser couldn't quite get it done against Jurupa Hills in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 15-10. Will the Cats have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
