Two dominant players in Timothy Lapointe and Nolan Fennessy are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Winnebago Indians will head out on the road to face off against the Norfolk Catholic Knights at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Saturday, Winnebago beat South Sioux City 57-46. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Winnebago.
Meanwhile, everything went Norfolk Catholic's way against Boone Central on Friday as Norfolk Catholic made off with a 38-16 win. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Norfolk Catholic has scored all year.
Fennessy and Max Hammond were among the main playmakers for Norfolk Catholic as the former dropped a double-double on ten points and 16 rebounds and the latter scored 12 points along with four steals. The contest was Hammond's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Hayden Kelley was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three steals.
The victory got Winnebago back to even at 3-3. As for Norfolk Catholic, they pushed their record up to 3-3 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.
Winnebago came up short against Norfolk Catholic when the teams last played back in December of 2022, falling 56-46. Can Winnebago avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
