The Bishop Dunne Falcons will head out on the road to face off against the Liberty Christian Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bishop Dunne is hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Friday, Bishop Dunne lost to Grapevine Faith Christian on the road by a decisive 45-26 margin.
Despite their loss, Bishop Dunne saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Myles Jackson, who rushed for 166 yards while picking up 9.2 yards per carry, was perhaps the best of all. Jackson was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 62 yards. Quincy Rheams also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Liberty Christian put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Trinity Christian, posting a 49-7 victory at home. Fans of Liberty Christian have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
Cole Welliver was the offensive standout of the game as he threw for 238 yards and four touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. Welliver has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last eight times he's played. Chase Garnett was another key contributor, rushing for 88 yards and a touchdown.
Grapevine Faith Christian's victory bumped their season record to 5-5 while Bishop Dunne's defeat dropped theirs to 4-6.
Everything came up roses for Bishop Dunne against Liberty Christian in their previous meeting back in November of 2017 as the squad secured a 36-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bishop Dunne since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
