Braden Phillips was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Phillips was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Jamari Horton was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Landon Mayo was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Enterprise entered their tilt with Kemper County on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 20-3 win. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by seven runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Garrett Neal, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in both of his plate appearances. He has become a key player for Enterprise: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Brody Blackburn, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double and one RBI.
Enterprise was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They are 5-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
McLaurin's victory bumped their record up to 10-4. As for Enterprise, their win bumped their record up to 8-11.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. McLaurin has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .622. However, it's not like Enterprise struggles in that department as they've averaged .452. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
McLaurin suffered a grim 17-2 defeat to Enterprise when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can McLaurin avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
