The Poquoson Islanders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. The contest between Poquoson and Grafton wasn't particularly close, with Poquoson falling 58-39. Poquoson lost against Grafton in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 49-27 score last time.
Several Islanders players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jayson Kell, who scored ten points. Another player making a difference was Dominic Galacgac, who scored nine points.
Poquoson's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Grafton, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
Poquoson will be playing in front of their home fans against Smithfield at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Smithfield has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 187 points over their last three matches. As for Grafton, they will head out on the road to face off against New Kent at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Virginia (New Kent is ranked 15th, while Grafton is ranked 14th).
