Rampart is 0-5 against Cheyenne Mountain since May of 2021 but things could change on Saturday. The Rams will venture away from home to face off against the Red-Tailed Hawks at 10:00 a.m. Rampart will be strutting in after a victory while Cheyenne Mountain will be coming in after a loss.
Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Rampart turned things around against Liberty on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 17-6 margin over the Lancers. The Rams' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Liam Martin and Justus Derickson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Martin struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Derickson tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Martin has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, Martin went 4-for-5 with four RBI and two doubles, while Derickson went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Those two doubles gave Martin a new career-high.

Rampart always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Cheyenne Mountain entered their game against Lewis-Palmer on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Red-Tailed Hawks came up short against the Rangers, falling 16-5. Red-Tailed Hawks fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Rangers since on Thursday.
Noah Reickert was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Jansen Roberts, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
This is the second loss in a row for Cheyenne Mountain and nudges their season record down to 7-3-1. As for Rampart, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 3-8.
Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Rampart hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .343. However, it's not like Cheyenne Mountain struggles in that department as they've averaged .365. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Rampart couldn't quite get it done against Cheyenne Mountain in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 8-3. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
