Eagle hasn't had much luck against Owyhee recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Mustangs will face off against the Storm at 6:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Eagle comes in on three and Owyhee on 12.
On Thursday, Eagle made easy work of Ridgevue and carried off an 11-3 victory. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by eight runs or more this season.
Sophia Giles spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up ten Ks.
On the hitting side, Addy Giles and Emry Woods did most of the damage at the plate: Addy went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI, while Woods went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Taryn Peterman, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Eagle hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Owyhee owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Thursday. They walked away with a 4-0 win over Kuna.
The result came thanks to Hailey Brennan's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 18 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Owyhee saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was McKenna Schab, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one double. That double was Schab's first of the season.
Eagle's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Owyhee, their record is now 12-0.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Eagle has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .498. However, it's not like Owyhee struggles in that department as they've averaged .474. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Eagle couldn't quite get it done against Owyhee in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 6-3. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
