The Millikan Rams's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 81-68 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lakewood. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (65), Millikan still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, Millikan saw an underclassman step up: Dylan Williams shot 4-for-6 from long range and dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Williams has scored all season. Jeremiah Hunt was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with two steals.
Lakewood's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Keaton Lewis led the charge by scoring 16 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Lewis is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Anthony Williams, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Millikan's loss was their eighth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-16. As for Lakewood, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 18-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Millikan will square off against Cabrillo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lakewood, they will head out on the road to face off against Woodrow Wilson at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Woodrow Wilson's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games.
