Boulder City hasn't had much luck against Virgin Valley recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Boulder City Eagles will face off against the Virgin Valley Bulldogs. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Boulder City is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They put the hurt on Mater Academy East Las Vegas with a sharp 28-6 win. Winning may never get old, but the Eagles sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Boulder City got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Sancha Jenas-Keogh out in front who rushed for 83 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. Jenas-Keogh also deserves a shoutout for her performance on D, picking up a sack and making two total tackles. Noelle Payne was in the mix as well, providing Boulder City with two touchdowns.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Boulder City's defense and their four sacks. Hannah Stark was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up three herself. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in sacks.
Meanwhile, Virgin Valley faced Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. Virgin Valley took their contest with ease, bagging a 56-12 win over Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon. Winning may never get old, but the Bulldogs sure are getting used to it with their 14th in a row.
Boulder City better keep an eye on Davie Slack. She was instrumental in Virgin Valley's win, throwing for 174 yards and seven touchdowns, while also rushing for 73 yards on only nine carries. Slack also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making three total tackles and defending two passes in addition to snagging two interceptions. Nataly Martinez did her part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 64 receiving yards.
Virgin Valley didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off five passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Denise Silveyra and Slack.
Boulder City's record is now 17-3. As for Virgin Valley, their record now sits at 20-1.
Thursday's matchup will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Makayla Nelson and Slack. Nelson just won't slow down this season and has averaged 90.5 passing yards per game. Slack has been a dominant force too and has thrown 84 touchdowns (and and only 12 pick) while averaging 173.2 passing yards per game.
Boulder City was dealt a bruising 40-12 defeat at the hands of Virgin Valley in their previous meeting back in January. Can Boulder City avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
