Basketball Recap: Weddington Makes It Six in a Row at Home

Weddington extended their winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from KJ Younger. The Weddington Warriors blew past the Nation Ford Falcons 85-64 on Tuesday thanks in part to Younger, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 13 boards. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last 22 games he's played dating back to last season.

Tyler Cain was another key player, going 7 of 10 on his way to 18 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points.

Nation Ford's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Chase Walters, who posted 19 points and five boards, and Garrin Brookover, who went 7 for 8 en route to 14 points. Walters is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Pryer, who scored eight points and six rebounds.

Weddington's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-5. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.7 points per game. As for Nation Ford, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Weddington will venture away from home to face off against Porter Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Weddington has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 223 points over their last three contests. As for Nation Ford, they will head out on the road to take on Indian Land at 7:45 p.m. on Friday.
