Southern recap October 22, 2013
Santee's Sheldon Arnold rumbled for the longest rushing play in Southern this season in his game against Diego Rivera Learning Complex last week. Arnold's team defeated the Huskies as he sprinted for 90 yards on the play and finished with 264 in all.
Santee scaled the state rankings by moving to 723 from 782 this week, the biggest jump in the league. David E. Tejada and John Petty's team was able to move up by besting Diego Rivera Learning Complex 37-6.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Jefferson's Antonio Haygood and Jarmaine Doubs have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-2 quarterback Haygood has thrown for 171 yards this season, while Doubs has 6 catches for 100 yards. Arnold from the Falcons leads the league in rushing with 1,308 yards.
In 99 carries Deaudrey Steen has accumulated 906 yard this year.
A big matchup in Southern this week will be when Santee takes on Fremont. As it stands, the Falcons are in first, while the Pathfinders are in fourth.
Santee made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 10,372 from 11,088. The advance stemmed from a 37-6 victory over D'Andre Collins' team last week.
