The North Charleston Cougars entered their tilt with the Beaufort Eagles with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. North Charleston strolled past Beaufort with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 53-38. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 12 to 4 on the offensive boards, as North Charleston did.
Among those leading the charge was Onarae Grant, who scored 14 points along with three steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Richard Hazel III, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Amani Cleckley, who scored 16 points. Samari Bonds was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
Beaufort struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
North Charleston's win bumped their record up to 10-8. As for Beaufort, they bumped their record down to 7-8 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.
North Charleston will be playing in front of their home fans against Philip Simmons at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Beaufort, they will head out on the road to face off against Hanahan at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hanahan is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
