The Lower Richland Diamond Hornets came tearing into Friday's game with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past Orangeburg-Wilkinson with points to spare, taking the game 45-31. For Lower Richland, this counts as revenge for the 56-53 loss Orangeburg-Wilkinson walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.
Orangeburg-Wilkinson lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jordan McGahee, who scored seven points. The team also got some help courtesy of Keith Smith, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Lower Richland is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for Orangeburg-Wilkinson, their loss ended a 17-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-5.
Lower Richland will take on Dreher at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Orangeburg-Wilkinson, they will head out on the road to take on Gilbert at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Gilbert will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 226th, while Orangeburg-Wilkinson is ranked 35th).
