The Richwood Lumberjacks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They fell 44-37 to Montcalm. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Richwood in their matchups with Montcalm: they've now lost three in a row.
Richwood's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Christian Griffith, who scored ten points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Griffith has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Tyler Barnhouse, who scored 11 points.
Richwood's defeat was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Montcalm, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Richwood will face off against Highland at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Highland will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 374th in Virginia, while Richwood is ranked 122nd in West Virginia). As for Montcalm, they will head out on the road to face off against River View at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. River View is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games.
