Avocado - West recap Sept. 26, 2012
Carlsbad's Aaryn Dorsett rumbled for the longest rushing play in Avocado - West this season in his game against Westview last week. Dorsett scampered for 65 yards on the play and finished with 112 on the day as his team bested the Wolverines.
Vista moved up to 178 from 232 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 2-0 win over Torrey Pines helped the Panthers improve their standing.
Oceanside's dynamic duo of Israel Paopao and Thai Cottrell proved tough for Poway to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Paopao threw for 263 yards and two touchdowns and Cottrell had 116 yards receiving. T.K. Dodds helped Oceanside's passing attack out by catching three balls for 74 yards.
Shawn Cameron was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 16 carries, he ran for 127 yards as Carlsbad bested the Titans.
Oceanside's Paopao and Mikah Holder have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Avocado - West in both passing and receiving yards. Paopao has thrown for 948 yards this season, while Holder, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 15 catches for 364 yards. Cameron from Thadd MacNeal's team leads the league in rushing with 528 yards.
Vista was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in the league. Dan Williams's team vanquished the Falcons 2-0 earlier in the week.
