Lake Placid and the Bulldogs are an even 5-5 against one another since November of 2016, but not for long. The two teams will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 7th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Lake Placid is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
Lake Placid put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They put the hurt on Discovery with a sharp 30-8 victory.
Lake Placid's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Antranique Felton, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. Felton is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Taraje Walker, who scored seven points along with six steals.
After soaring to a 28-point victory in their last game, DeSoto County came back down to earth on Tuesday. They fell just short of Winthrop College Prep Academy by a score of 58-56. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
The losing side was boosted by Keyara Montinat, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Janeris Bing was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with two steals.
Lake Placid has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. As for DeSoto County, they dropped their record down to 9-12 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Wednesday's contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Lake Placid have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 28.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like DeSoto County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of DeSoto County's Cherish Wiggins, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds.
