The United South Panthers were the 34-28 winner over the Eagle Pass Eagles when they last played one another back in October of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. United South fell to Eagle Pass 26-21. United South has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
David Gonzalez and Carlos Segovia certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Gonzalez rushed for 61 yards and two touchdowns, while Segovia gained 113 total yards and a touchdown. Segovia's longest reception was for an incredible 73 yards.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Eagle Pass to victory, but perhaps none more so than Andres Villarreal, who threw for 291 yards and three touchdowns on only 18 passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Villarreal is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jose Hernandez, who picked up 131 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
United South's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Eagle Pass, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-3.
United South will face off against Laredo LBJ at 7:30 p.m. on November 3rd. Laredo LBJ is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Eagle Pass, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Del Rio at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
