The Cascade Bruins will challenge the Stanwood Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
On Thursday, Cascade earned a 16-13 victory over Arlington. The win continues a trend for the Bruins in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won four in a row.
Mia Walker made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 14 batters over 12 innings while giving up six earned (and four unearned) runs off 15 hits. Those 14 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-6.

In other batting news, Tessa Hahn and Kodie Rasmussen did most of the damage at the plate: Hahn fired off two home runs, four RBI, and one stolen base while going 2-for-7, while Rasmussen scored four runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-7. Those four runs gave Rasmussen a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Allison Gehrig, who scored a run while going 4-for-7.
Meanwhile, Stanwood had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Marysville Getchell. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by seven runs or more this season.
Like Cascade, Stanwood also got a great game from a two-way player: Addison Anderson. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Anderson has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.
In other batting news, Stanwood got a massive performance out of Jordan Rancourt, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Rubi Lopez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Stanwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marysville Getchell only posted an OBP of .211.
Stanwood pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Cascade, their victory bumped their record up to 4-6.
Cascade was able to grind out a solid win over Stanwood in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 7-3. Will the Bruins repeat their success, or do the Spartans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
