Horseshoe Bend has gone a perfect 10-0 against Reeltown recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. Horseshoe Bend will host Reeltown at 4:00 p.m. Horseshoe Bend is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
If Horseshoe Bend beats Reeltown with six runs on Thursday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. Horseshoe Bend beat Dadeville on Wednesday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 6-1.
Brynlee Alford was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one triple and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she hit this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lily Moss, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Marley Trapp also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Reeltown). They never let LaFayette get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory last Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Rebels.
Like Horseshoe Bend, Reeltown also got a great game from a two-way player: Lilli Johnston. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Johnston was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles.
In other batting news, Caroline Sutherland and Kellie Whitlow did most of the damage at the plate: Sutherland scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3, while Whitlow scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Kennedy Miller, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.
Reeltown always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .773. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Horseshoe Bend pushed their record up to 7-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Reeltown, the victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-7.
Horseshoe Bend took their win against Reeltown in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-2. Will Horseshoe Bend repeat their success, or does Reeltown has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
