The Solon Comets entered their tilt with the Twinsburg Tigers with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Solon walked away with a 53-43 victory over Twinsburg on Saturday. Given Solon's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while Twinsburg is ranked 245th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Twinsburg's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kayla Cellura, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Taylor Dye, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Solon is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. As for Twinsburg, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-10.
Solon will be playing at home against Brecksville-Broadview Heights at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Twinsburg, they will square off against North Royalton at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. North Royalton is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home.
