The Snake River Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the Marsh Valley Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Marsh Valley took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Snake River, who comes in off a win.
Last Saturday, Snake River faced South Fremont in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Snake River came out on top against South Fremont by a score of 50-40. 50 seems to be a good number for Snake River as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Meanwhile, Marsh Valley's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their sixth straight loss. They took a 50-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bear Lake. While losing is never fun, Marsh Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 100th, while Bear Lake is ranked 15th).
Snake River is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Marsh Valley, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-14 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Snake River against Marsh Valley when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 57-22 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Snake River since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
