The Haines City Hornets will head out on the road to challenge the Wekiva Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.
Haines City will head into Thursday's match hoping to keep the good times rolling: they had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 68-point drubbing they dealt Sebring on Thursday. Haines City really took it to Sebring for the full four quarters, racking up an 81-13 victory. The Hornets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 22 points or more this season.

Delyana Morris continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Terionce Jackson, who went 6 of 13 on her way to 15 points and four steals.
Haines City smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in eight consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wekiva). They breezed by Umatilla to the tune of 59-15 on Thursday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Wekiva's win came from a few key players Haines City will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jakayla Johnson, who went 8 of 14 on her way to 17 points and four steals. Makayla Bell was another key player, going 7 of 10 on her way to 14 points along with six steals and five assists.
Haines City pushed their record up to 12-5 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.1 points per game. As for Wekiva, their win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-11.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Haines City has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 32.2 boards per game. However, it's not like Wekiva struggles in that department as they've been averaging 23.2 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Haines City beat Wekiva 52-41 in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Wekiva's Senaia Asanya, who went 7 of 13 on her way to 19 points and seven rebounds. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Haines City still be able to contain Asanya? There's only one way to find out.
