Make it eight blowout wins for the Cape Fear Colts this season. Everything went their way against Jack Britt on Tuesday as Cape Fear made off with a 64-39 victory. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 33-13.
Jayda Angel was her usual excellent self, scoring 31 points. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Cape Fear's points. Kayia Starling was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Jack Britt lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Dezariyah "Dezzy" Clark, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 16 rebounds. That was a full 41% of Jack Britt's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Keara Duncan, who scored nine points along with 12 rebounds and two blocks.
Even though they lost, Jack Britt smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Cape Fear's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.0 points per game. As for Jack Britt, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-3.
Cape Fear will head out on the road to take on South View at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. South View will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for Jack Britt, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Purnell Swett at 6:00 p.m. Purnell Swett is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
