The Mountain View Toros will face off against the Higley Knights at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mountain View has five straight victories, Higley has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Mountain View is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Dobson a 26-0 shutout on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Toros, who have now won eight matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Jaelynn Fike made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Brenna Campos looked comfortable as she struck out seven batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Abbie Cameron and Kylynn Sylvester did most of the damage at the plate: Cameron went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five runs, and two RBI, while Sylvester got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four hits gave Cameron a new career-high. Keelie Goodman was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Mountain View hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in eight consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Higley didn't have quite enough to beat Desert Ridge on Thursday and fell 8-7.
Samantha Parisi was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Babcock, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Mountain View pushed their record up to 13-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.0 runs over those games. As for Higley, their loss dropped their record down to 6-15-1.
Higley's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Mountain View has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.7 hits per game. It's a different story for Higley, though, as they've been averaging 9.4 hits. Given Mountain View's sizable advantage in that area, the Knights will need to find a way to close that gap.
