Baseball Recap: Canfield's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

After a string of five wins, Canfield's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell just short of the Austintown-Fitch Falcons by a score of 5-4. If the Cardinals were looking for revenge after losing 11-5 to the Falcons when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Joey Gabriel and Jake Dovich did some serious damage despite the final result: Gabriel went 2-for-3 with two RBI, while Dovich went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Canfield's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-2. As for Austintown-Fitch, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-6.

While Canfield had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
