Compass Academy is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Monday. They will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Lamesa Tornadoes at 5:00 p.m. Compass Academy has given up an average of 8.7 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Compass Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They came out on top against Wink by a score of 17-14 on Monday. The victory was familiar territory for the Cougars, who have now won three contests in a row.
Anna Donaldson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and 13 unearned) runs off 14 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Amariss Lopez was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Ariana Amonett was another key player, going 2-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Compass Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Lamesa posted their closest win since April 26, 2025 on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over Muleshoe. The game was the first time the Tornadoes have beaten the Mules on their field since April 13, 2024.
Lamesa's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Compass Academy, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Compass Academy might still be hurting after the 15-1 loss they got from Lamesa in their previous meeting back in March of 2025. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
