Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake and Ballston Spa are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2016, but not for long. The Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Spartans will be home for the holidays to greet the Ballston Spa Scotties at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
On Tuesday, Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake was the victim of a tough 65-41 loss at the hands of Columbia. Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake has struggled against Columbia recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Teagan Keane, who scored 11 points. Mackenzie Cahan was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Ballston Spa's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They suffered a tough 68-42 defeat at the hands of Averill Park. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Ballston Spa has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Ballston Spa had strong showings from Mallory Sprissler, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds, and Aubrey Kramer, who scored 12 points. Sprissler is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Lee, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Ballston Spa, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake took their win against Ballston Spa when the teams last played back in January by a conclusive 57-37. Does Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake have another victory up their sleeve, or will Ballston Spa turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
