The Riverview Pirates won the last time they faced the Milan Big Reds, and things went their way on Thursday too. Riverview took down Milan 48-34. Given Riverview's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 70th, while Milan is ranked 402nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Riverview to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brooklyn Poe, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kate Patterson, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Riverview is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for Milan, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-11.
Riverview will be playing at home against Huron at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Huron has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Milan is on the road again on Monday and plays St. Mary Catholic Central at 7:00 p.m. on February 12th. St. Mary Catholic Central will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Milan surely won't give up without a fight.
