The Kendrick Cherokees's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They fell just short of Greenville by a score of 51-48. Kendrick was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Greenville apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November.
Despite the loss, Kendrick saw an underclassman step up: Andrew Spivey scored 19 points along with three steals. Caleb Giles was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Kendrick's defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-6. As for Greenville, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 1-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kendrick will square off against Spencer at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Spencer focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Saturday. Greenville and Macon County will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 15th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Macon County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Saturday.
