The Eagle River Wolves scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They came out on top against Nikiski by a score of 54-46. The win was some much needed relief for Eagle River as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.
Eagle River's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brooklyn Rollman, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 17 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Darby Buyse, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Avery Ellis, who scored 16 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ellis has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Shelby Burman, who scored 11 points.
Eagle River's victory bumped their record up to 2-12. As for Nikiski, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-14.
Eagle River will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Chugiak at 6:00 p.m. on February 13th. Eagle River has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Nikiski, they will be playing at home against Homer at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Nikiski is coming into the match with ten straight defeats at home, meaning Homer will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory.
