On Friday, it was a hard-fought match, but West Mecklenburg had to settle for a 56-53 defeat against Cuthbertson.
Several Hawks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tayshaun Jones, who scored 14 points along with 7 steals and 5 assists. Jones is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Cam Higgins was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals.
West Mecklenburg's loss dropped their record down to 2-1. As for Cuthbertson, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 2-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Mecklenburg will face off against Garinger at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Garinger is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Cuthbertson, they will head out on the road to face off against Salisbury at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
