The Cannelton Bulldogs lost against the Medora Hornets back in February, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Cannelton was outmatched by Medora at home and fell 64-30. Cannelton has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
When it comes to explaining why Cannelton lost, one person who can't be blamed is Trevor Hale. Despite the final result, he scored 11 points. Hale scored a full 36.7% of Cannelton's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Medora's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hudson Johnson, who scored 15 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. Those seven assists set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Jaxon Nugen, who scored 18 points along with four steals.
Cannelton's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Medora, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cannelton will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Vincennes Rivet at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Medora will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Columbus Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Indiana (Columbus Christian is ranked 402nd, while Medora is ranked 407th).
