The Hanks Knights will face off against the Americas Trail Blazers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hanks has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with three straight defeats, while Americas will come in with four straight wins.
Hanks lost 16-8 to El Dorado on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Knights have suffered against the Aztecs since March 1, 2016.
Amberly Mercado was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Audrey Melendez, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5.
Meanwhile, while Americas put up plenty of runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for Parkland. Americas blew past Parkland 12-0. Considering the Trail Blazers have won 11 matches by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Isabelle Garcia was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Miley Rodriguez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.
Americas always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .519. They are a perfect 11-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Americas now has a winning record of 14-13. As for Hanks, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-9-1.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Hanks has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .491. However, it's not like Americas struggles in that department as they've averaged .455. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Hanks couldn't quite get it done against Americas in their previous matchup back in March of 2022 as they fell 4-0. Will Hanks have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
