After flying high against the Winston-Salem Prep Phoenix last Friday, The Bishop McGuinness Villains came back down to earth. Bishop McGuinness fell 31-22 to Christ the King on Friday. Bishop McGuinness has struggled against Christ the King recently, as their game on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Bishop McGuinness still got an impressive performance from Alex Waterfield, who threw for 261 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 98 yards and a touchdown.
Jack Yenichek had an outrageously good game for Christ the King as he rushed for 170 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 8.1 yards per carry. JP Zimmerman and his 129 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Christ the King's win.
Bishop McGuinness' defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Christ the King, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 5-5.
Bishop McGuinness will be playing at home against South Stokes at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. South Stokes is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses. As for Christ the King, they will head out on the road to face off against Hayesville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
